Introduction
Jimbojoy originally joined the game in the May of 2009, after playing the browser game Evony, which he has stated that he had enjoyed the military aspect of this MMO, but wanted a more social and political game to play, and found eRepublik through a recommendation on Evony by veteran citizen Will Salmon. After signing up and forgetting about eRepublik over the summer, missing the PEACE invasion of North America that would so define the politics and foreign affairs of his first year in the game, Jimbo started a new account in the September of 2009 and began to play in earnest.
Career Summary
Jimbojoy is an ex-eUK Country President, choosing to revert to the local form of Prime Minister, and a 10 time cabinet minister in the UK, serving three terms in the frontline Ministry of Home Affairs. He is a long time Mentoring and Recruitment leader, himself defining his main activities as "Finding new players to help, message and mentor, looking after them by offering advice on the game, and on the best opportunities available. We can give guidance on the forums and attempt to retain players but half the battle is in showing people just how much you can do off-site - that's my hardest, but most satisfying job."
Jimbo is a long time member of the Official UK military, which he first joined in V1 in the period where it was known as the Royal Navy, and remained there throughout its 2010 reforms, when it became the British Army. He was assigned to the Royal Artillery, but after a summer with RL activites, two clicked for the Military until the Army became a tri-banded organisation with the re-introduction of a battle wall.
After this change Jimbojoy finally joined the United Kingdom Special Forces and fought alongside them in the glorious period under the command of Bron Avery. On the eUK's entry to the TERRA alliance block, swayed by the unheard of level of supplies provided by the then allied US-EU Military SuperUnit Ultramarines - 2 x Q5 Weapons (at that time almost 10 times the value of fighting materials usually available to soldiers), he joined this MU and stayed on as de-facto 2iC of the 40 Commando MU, owned by high strength tank Smack. With the switch to a pro-ONE stance from the eUK, Jimbo rejoined the UKSF, and would work his way up to CiC at the rank of Major-General until the disbanding of the eUK Military by Prime Minister Thomas765 at the crucial time in eUK politics of the end of 2011 / 2012 start. Following this Jimbo connected with the amalgamated offical government sponsored MU, the BEF. In late 2012, with the decline of the BEF, Jimbojoy became a member of the elite 12th Regiment of TUP Family for a short while and with the advent of the Armed Forces Group, joined The Legion - finding a community in the 9th Reg. When his service is complete, a far more mercenary approach to units is to be applied, with the ex-military commander helping any team that needs organisational improvement. He simply states "The Navy was home, and in a way it still is. I'll kick about forever and remember the glory of my finest hours."
2012 also signaled the start of Jimbojoy's career in Foreign Affairs, which was to give him the experience and public prominence that is required when running for President, his eventual (and achieved) goal. With several ambassadorial roles to English speaking nations (involving a return trip to eNZ after a two year hiatus) his most important appointment in the diplomatic core was to represent the eUK in Brazil, a nation with whom traditionally had see-sawed in and out of alliances with his home nation. After receiving a brief from Talon Karrde to strike up friendships and hanker for an MPP, he launched a hugely success friendly relations campaign that ultimately lead to the signing of an accord, which for one month saw Brazil support the UK - While Jimbo moved up to the next job in FA as underminster.
