LAKAN-KBP, which stands for Lakas ng Kabataan-Kapisanan para sa Bagong Pilipinas (English: Power of the Youth-Organization for a New Philippines), is a fifth generation Center-right Philippine Political Party, succeeding the New Philippines Party and P.C.B. Filipino. It was renamed on February 17, 2013 as a pro-youth, pro-industry and pro-Filipino party. LAKAN-KBP is currently the fifth largest party in the Philippines.

History

In June of 2012, the A New Hope party was formed. J Grey, its first ever candidate for the Presidential elections, won against KMP's Lacon Yan, 54 against 45 votes. It never ran a candidate for Presidential elections until it was renamed Sith Empire by August of 2012, which was the result of a merger between the Royal Philippines Party and A New Hope. That month, the Sith Empire supported Destroyer S87 of DPP in the Presidential elections. In November of 2012, it was again renamed into the New Philippines Party (NPP) by 27ist. It fielded a Presidential candidate for the first time since June when its former party president, Pinopinopino, ran for the Presidential elections in January of 2013. He only had 3 of 86 votes. On February 6, 2013, the NPP was renamed P.C.B. Filipino by juancda. On February 17, 2013, the party was renamed again as LAKAN-KBP by Liana Paldrov.
