Iceland (officially the Kingdom of Iceland) is a small island nation in Western Europe. It was unofficially established prior to becoming a country on September 2nd 2011, by Top Hat Harry, Louis Mountbatten, and Mr Woldy.

Society
Community
The Icelandic community, though currently small, is filled predominantly with fun and experienced players from the United Kingdom. Despite it's size, with the country being unofficially established, the IRC channel has been slowly filling up with charismatic players eager to help the growth of the nation. With the current growth rates on IRC, and popular support world wide, national forums are likely to be implemented shortly.

History
Unfortunately, as of yet, Iceland has never been added into Erepublik. Putting this aside, over the years many Erepublik players have tried to campaign for it's addition into the game. However, until now no attempts have peaked this level of involvement. Hopefully now history will be made.
Media
Iceland's media is limited due to it not being an official country of Erepublik. There are plans to start publishing articles to further promote the country. The first article is expected to be released as soon as possible, with the publisher being Mr Woldy, the King and former 6 time Country President of the United Kingdom.
Economy
Tax
Due to Iceland not yet being in the game, it is hard to say what taxation rates will be based on the fact there is no knowledge of regions and resource bonuses.
Trade
Similarly to what was said in the taxation section, it is really hard to determine what trading will be like.
Politics
Like many other countries, the Icelandic community has renamed the generic institutions of eRepublik as far as possible, such as Congress and the President, to assign a cultural flavor to them and an element of uniqueness. The elected members of the congress also make up the national forum based Althing, while the President is commonly referred to as the Prime Minister.
Monarchy
Iceland is officially a partial monarchy, with all powers of the country being shared by the monarch of Iceland and the Prime Minister of the time. Due to in game mechanics, the monarch doesn't have any ACTUAL power, but to further the realism of the game, are treated and respected as equals. It is expected that once the country expands, the value and use of the royal family will decrease to fit a wider democracy, with them being there purely more for ceremonial functions.
The current members of the Royal Family are:
- His Imperial and Royal Majesty King Woldy I of Iceland, Great Britain, and Ireland
- His Imperial and Royal Highness Crown Prince Louis of Iceland
Prime Minister
The Prime Minister is the elected political leader of the country, functioning exactly the same as other countries due to in game mechanics. The first Prime Minister is set to be Smack_Dat of the yet to be created The Icelandic Party. Smack Dat was set to be the first political leader by the Royals, due to being a joint founder of the country.
Government
AlthingThe Althing is the planned name of the Icelandic congress. Political PartiesOnce more due to the fact that Iceland has yet to make it into Erepublik, no parties have had the chance to be set up in game. There are plans that the first political party, which will also house the Royal Family and the current Prime Minister, will be called 'The Icelandic Party'. The party is likely to be a centre or centre-left party, although that is yet to be confirmed.
