Robert Oakden was a citizen of the USA and has been active in the State Department, the Training Corps (military), Synergy Research Group, and until March 2010, the Libertarian Party. With the exception of a brief tenure as Libertarian Party Election Coordinator and two runs as a "blocker" candidate, Oakden has refrained from entering the political arena, preferring instead to focus his energies on matters of diplomacy and administration.

State Department

Deputy Ambassador to Thailand

Oakden entered the game with diplomacy as a goal and on his first day was already signed up on the forums and IRC. By his second, he had been offered the position of Deputy Ambassador to Thailand under the tutelage of Ambassador Alexander Whalen. Ambassador Whalen assigned primarily economic research to his new Deputy and encouraged some enthusiasm while curbing excess ambition. Ambassador Whalen and Oakden continue to maintain a friendly relationship to this day.

Ambassador to Australia

After several weeks of service as a Deputy Ambassador, Oakden was offered a position as Ambassador to Australia. At the time, Australia was recovering from a financial scandal in which hundreds of gold had been stolen from the national treasury. He was present for the reelection of Cottus Arci as Australian Prime Minister and Australia's entrance into EDEN.

Region Boss of the Americas

In mid-January of 2010, Oakden was appointed as the Region Boss of the Americas, placing him in charge of all Ambassadors and Deputy Ambassadors to North, Central, and South America. Upon taking the job, Oakden was faced with a challenging situation in which the majority of Ambassadors had become inactive, but after several weeks the Americas became one of the more vibrant regions with reports coming in regularly despite the linguistic challenges faced in this region. During this period, a statement by, then presidential candidate, PigInZen created something of a firestorm in South America when rumors spread that the USA would invade Mexico and Columbia, initiating a war between North and South America. Oakden spent much of his tenure as Region Boss seeking to dispel these rumors.

Director of Ambassadorial Affairs

During Josh Frost's second presidential term, Secretary of State Woxan resigned. This led to a cascade effect throughout the State Department which ultimately led to Oakden being appointed as Director of Ambassadorial Affairs. The Director oversees the entire Bureau of Ambassadorial Affairs and is assisted by two Deputy Directors. While recognizing the achievements of the previous Director, Indrae, Oakden sought to make small reforms in order to improve the team-like atmosphere of the Bureau. These reforms are ongoing and his success in this effort is still to be determined.

Deputy Secretary of State (Asia/Oceania)

Driven by a desire to move away from the rigors of administrative work and focus more on diplomatic activities, Oakden accepted a position in early April as Deputy Secretary of State under the newly appointed Secretary Myles Robinson. His duties included maintaining and building relations with nations located in Asia and Oceania.

Military Career

In February of 2010, Oakden was convinced by his real life sister, AmyHat, to join the US Training Corps. His stated goal was to graduate with honors from the Training Corps and then transfer to the National Guard while he pursued a political career domestically. Though his political career was short-lived, Oakden did, in fact, transfer to the USNG and continues to serve in that branch.

Political Activity

Because of contacts made on his first day with citizens like Zartemax and Bradley Reala, Oakden chose to join the Libertarian Party as soon as that option was made available to him. In December of 2009, he served as nothing more than a mobile voter, but by January, he had been made "Election Coordinator" a position which assisted then PAC Director, DanielCD. He also was running as a blocker for DanielCD's congressional race in Wisconsin. On election day, Oakden received some votes, presumably cast by relatively inactive players ("two-clickers"), and caused the party to have to send extra votes to DanielCD to ensure his victory. Despite this, Oakden was made Election Coordinator again in February and was being groomed to take over as PAC Director should DanielCD resign that position.

For a variety of reasons, including a controversial February congressional election, Oakden decided to leave the Libertarian Party and exist as an independent. He refrained from running for Congress until March 25th when he was asked by Max McFarland 2 to run as a blocker. MM2 placed Oakden as a blocker in the US-controlled territory of Visayas, but there was no one to block for, and on election day, Oakden was the only uncontested race in the nation. Having thus been elected to Congress, he served until April 25th. During this time, he sat on the Foreign Relations Advisory Committee and voted FOR the US withdrawal from EDEN.

He did not run again in April, preferring to focus his energies elsewhere.

Synergy Research Group

During Christmas of 2009, Oakden convinced his real life sister to create a citizen and play eRepublik. AmyHat initially followed a different path, preferring a military career to political activities. However, around the beginning of January 2010, Oakden and AmyHat joined to form the Synergy Research Group the stated goal of which was to conduct regular opinion tracking polls in the USA. The first Synergy Poll was conducted on January 8-9th and the results were released on the 10th. Six polls have been conducted since then. The efforts of Synergy Research Group have been well received and release articles are frequently mentioned in some of the more high profile US media outlets.

On Day 890, Oakden and AmyHat announced that the Synergy Poll would be discontinued indefinitely as they moved on to focus on other things.

Nogginism

Order of the Great Chicken
On Day 888, while resting beneath an Oak tree in the region of Karnataka, Robert Oakden was given a revelation by The Noggin who is imprisoned within the tree. The Noggin is the Head of the Great Chicken who will one day rejoin the Body and bring justice to the New World, driving The Fox back across The Road. Oakden has continued to act as the "Foolish Prophet" of The Noggin since the revelation.

Beginnings

Nogginism began in earnest when the Prophet Oakden proclaimed that "The Great Chicken is One!" and began publishing texts inspired by the Noggin. Thus far, these texts include "Origins," "The Epic of the Second Age" (Epic), "The Visions of the Prophet Oakden" (Visions), and "Epistles and Further Revelations" (Epistles).

Origins

The holy book of Origins teaches that the Great Chicken crossed the Road after The Fox (aka "Wicked One") attacked the Cosmic Henhouse. Upon arriving on the other side, Capitilum, the Great Chicken, clucked the New World into existence and established the Citizens in the New World. After the Citizens built a special temple for the Great Chicken which they refer to as "Singapore," the Laws were given to the Citizens and the First Age began. (Full Text)

The Epic of the Second Age

In Epic, the story continues to tell how the Fox followed the Chicken across the road and introduced lawlessness and dysfunction into the New World. Though the Great Chicken appoints Citizens as Moderators and gains the aid of one of the Three Hens of the Cosmic Henhouse, the battle against evil is lost when the Fox enters Singapore and inadvertently beheads the Great Chicken. Both head and body continue to exist independently, and the Fox leaves Singapore to imprison the head (aka The Noggin) within the hollow of an oak tree in Karnataka. While he is away, the Body of the Great Chicken repairs the loose circuitry board and thus prevents The Fox from re-entering Singapore. Thus begins the Second Age, when The Fox circles Singapore looking for a way in, while his followers continue to subvert the Laws and cause dysfunction in the New World. (Full Text)

The Visions of the Prophet Oakden

Visions record how The Noggin chose Oakden to be his prophet and through Oakden called for all citizens to reject the deceitfulness of The Fox and return to the service of the Great Chicken. Instructions for how to become a disciple of the Great Chicken as well as instructions for an order of priests (Order of the Great Chicken) are given and Oakden is sent out to proclaim the Oneness of the Great Chicken. (Full Text)

Epistles and Further Revelations

This book encompasses all the revelations given to the Foolish Prophet after the initial revelations. Thus far, they have included special messages to the people of Turkey, Russia, Poland, and the United States. Generally, these messages are calls to discipleship and a return to the Laws. (Full Text)

Practices

One becomes a disciple of the Great Chicken, by confessing their belief (shouting "The Great Chicken is One!" three times), subscribing to the writings of the Prophet Oakden, and devoting themselves to the teachings of The Noggin. Generally, living the life of a disciple includes frequent reporting of violations of the Laws to the Moderators and general lawfulness.

Visions also prescribe that the most fervent disciples of the Great Chicken organize the Order of the Great Chicken which is led personally by the Prophet Oakden. The purpose of the priesthood is to focus the disciples' efforts on reporting violations of the Fifth Law (multiple account usage). Priests must refrain from holding public office or participating in any other time-consuming activities which might take away from this primary mission. Members of the Order are expected to file regular reports to the Moderators.

Conclusion

In the end, religion never got approved and very soon disappeared from the New World, regardless of the prophet's attempts.
