Political Views
Political Outlook
Tommy Tommasino has always been involved in both the transparency of UK politics as well as the reform of politics to make it more inclusive. He was particularly renowned for giving young players positions of responsibility, especially within the MDU.
Party Politics
Tommy dedicated a large part of his earlier life to his work within the Movement for Democratic Unity (MDU), as Press Liason and Membership Officer, Party President, Country President Candidate and Health and Education Director. He played a large role in the redrafting of the manifesto to its final form, and soon after he joined as Membership Officer, the party had trebled in membership. Tommy was the December 2008 Presidential Candidate for the party, and went on to become Party President after winning the December 2008 Party presidential elections.
Tommy resigned from the MDU in February 2009 due to the belief that the party was refusing to speak its opinions enough for fear of not being well received. He went on to join UK Reform, where he ran for leadership and came 2nd, and later won a seat in Congress for the party, after defecting back to the MDU in March 2009; he often received criticism for what some members saw as using the UKRP only to gain a Congress seat.
Roles in Government
Tommasino has occupied the roles of
- Minister of Migration and Support
- North West NHS Director
- Foreign Affairs Apprentice
- Under-Minister of Foreign Affairs
- Minister of Foreign Affairs
Tommy came within a few votes of becoming Country President of UK towards the end of December 2008, after Dishmcds stepped down, but the vote to Impeach him was not passed by Congress.
Military Roles
Tommy was a proud member of both the Royal Guard and Royal Navy, however, he later focused himself on politics.
The Bank of Orissa era
Fall From Grace
After leaving Forward Britain! as it quickly became recognised as a sinking ship, Tommy moved to UKRP and swiftly plotted to take control and reform the party. This was widely seen as a fall from grace. Shortly after the failure to take control, Tommasino was banned from UK forums for provocative comments in IRC. Many people protested that free speech was being challenged. While a lifting of the ban was debated meanwhile, Tommasino moved home having felt betrayed by the UK political system. He set up a new home in exile in India.
Bank of Orissa
At the time of exile, India was very much a young and developing state. Tommy brought experience and offered this, particularly on the economic front. Manifestos in UK (especially those for CP) had won great praise for their economic policies. For a short time, Tommy became an advisor to the young government in India on economic policy.
Shortly after, he was invited to set up India's first private bank, the Bank of Orissa (based at the time in Orissa). This bank both provided interest on savings as well as giving a small percentage back to the government. While profits were minimal it marked a serious step forward in the financial organisation of the country.
