The Department of Defense (Filipino: Kagawaran ng Tanggulan, abbreviated DoD), sometimes Ministry of Defense (MoD) or Armed Forces Committee (AFC), is an executive department of the Philippine government that is responsible for the Filipino Army, facilitated by the Minister of Defense under the command of the President.

History

The Department of Defense was formed on 6 April 2009 by President Big Boy Bulley along with the Department of Home Affairs, Department of Foreign Affairs, and Department of Finance.
