Asgard was founded by Sweden and Finland on August 22nd, 2012 with the aim to strengthen the Nordic brotherhood and to give the fate of the nations in Asgard into their own hands. Norway took part in the early discussions and plans of creating a local Northern Alliance but decided not to go through with it and instead sticking with their alliance at the time EDEN.
In January 2013, Canada became a trial member of the alliance.[1] In February 2013 Norway joined the alliance as a trial member. [2] Both Canada and Norway were given full membership status in mid-March and late April, respectively.[3][4]

- Asgard is ruled by a common board of member country government officials.
