Norway lies in the North-western part of Europe and is one of two countries forming the Scandinavian Peninsula, its capital Oslo lies in the region Ostlandet. Norway borders to Sweden, Russia, Finland and United Kingdom.

Population

The population of Norway was very small until early January 2008 when members from 2 big Norwegian forums discovered the game. After a few months of growth, Norway maxed out at about 1500 citizens, making it the second largest country in Erepublik, only beaten by ally Sweden. As more and more citizens grew tired of the game, the population decreased steadily until the month of August. On August 4th 2008 Norway had 843 inhabitants, making it only the 13th largest country in Erepublik. Things changed quickly, however, when Finnish separatists started a massive recruitment campaign mid-August. The political party Sovereign Finland was established, and in only a few weeks it grew to the by far largest party in Norway, later to become the largest party in the world. As of 20th September 2008, Norway has 2470 citizens, the majority of them Finnish, making it the 6th largest country in Erepublik. When the Finns started the Finnish Independence War and the continuing Finland-Norway War, which was partly supported by the Norwegians, Norwegian population was reduced. As of January 11, 2009 the Norwegian population was estimated to consist of 2010 inhabitants, making it the 11th most populated country in eRepublik. After some problems for Norway, including TOs by Russia and Hungary, Norways population has dropped strongly, to 645, ranking Norway at 31st.

A sudden baby-boom of sorts happened during September, increasing the population of Norway to over 1000.

Culture

Norwegians are commonly referred to as "Vikings" by themselves and others, because of real-life history. During the Russian-Norwegian war, the country was also accused for strong smell of lutefisk.

Patriotism occurs when citizens are in conflicts (often called "fascism" by Russian opponents. A well-known phrase to show your feelings for the country is "Alt for Norge" (directly translated "Everything for Norway", meaning you're willing to sacrifice everything for your country).

Health Care

Norway's hospitals are supplied by the state-run company Universal Healthcare Q5, managed by the Minister of Industry. Universal Healthcare Q5 plays the most important part in the government's ambition of placing Q5 hospitals in all Norwegian regions. According to previous Minister of Health, Oddgeir, the most populous cities without a Q5 hospital will be prioritized, though other factors may apply.

The rules of the National Security forum

Discussion forum

Norway has an external discussion forum at http://www.erepublik.no, where most Congressional decisions are taken.[1] The forum is divided into multiple sections, including sections for four different parties, Imperialistpartiet, Sosialistisk Fremskrittsparti, United eNorway Party og Communist Party of Norway. There are also sections for Norwegian Armed Forces, and one for Embassies. The Congress has two forums, one that anyone can read, but only members of Congress can post in, and a hidden one called National Security, that is only visible to members of Congress and the Government. There are also multiple sections covering eRepublik that are open to anyone.

Military

The Norwegian army consists of 1046 soldiers, with an average strength of 4.68. Norway conquered Finland during the Norway-Finland War of April 2008, and Russia during the Norway-Russia War of May 2008. The Norwegian army's structure is split into two groups, Tanker and Trooper, where the strongest are members of the tanker, and the weaker in Trooper. Tankers are few, but can deal a decent amount of damage with the correct funding. The troopers are numerous and can deal almost as much damage if funded correctly.

Forsvarets Spesialkommando

During September 2009, the congress decided to start funding FSK, a new branch of the military with only the most active and strongest users, started by Cirno. FSK has proved that they can do a lot of damage when united, as long as they are funded by the state.

Alliances

Norway was a member of ATLANTIS, and became one of the members of EDEN when it was funded. They currently have alliances with Spain, Sweden, USA and Greece.

Wars

Norway has played an important role for EDEN in the Great War of 2009. After facing annexation at the hands of PEACE Global Community, USA fought back and eventually gained a foothold. Norway blocked Russia, so that USA could carry out their military operations. This obviously angered both the Russians and PEACE, and Russia has now gone on an offensive together with the United Kingdom, declaring war on Norway.

Norway was also the target of PEACE GC during their Operation Valhalla, where they tried to "liberate" the Norwegians from their "Swedish and Finnish oppressors", and stop Norway from being "used" by EDEN.
