When Viglius became active again in April 2011, he co-wrote the DemNL manifesto, which stated DemNL's goal of establishing a Ministry of Education & Culture. When, subsequently, Daniel Parker won the May 2011 Presidential elections, Viglius was appointed the first ever Minister of Education & Culture of the Netherlands. He was reappointed to this post after ArtemIvanov became President in June 2011, and once again in July 2011. Viglius stepped down as Minister of Education & Culture on July 12, 2011.

After a scandal regarding a leak from the Private section of Congress on the forums, he and many colleagues handed in their resignations to the Country President on January 27. Kimberly McCullough herself resigned within days.
Not having been reappointed to the caretaker government, Viglius reentered the government after the February elections. Accepting a position as State Secretary of Home Affairs, Viglius was given free rein in updating the Dutch honours system. Plans for this had been devised during his tenure as government advisor a year before.
Viglius' term ended with the introduction of his changes to the honours system. He was reappointed to the next government but became inactive again.
Party Presidency
In January 2013, Viglius ran for the position of Party president of Democratisch Nederland unopposed, resulting in him gaining the Party Presidency. He was re-elected, unopposed, in the February and March elections, only to resign halfway through his third term because of inactivity.
