The first Congress of Flag-Saudi Arabia.jpg Saudi Arabia was inaugurated on 26 January 2011 (eDay 1163), a day after the first Congress elections in Saudi Arabia were held. Saudi Arabia was among the first three Arab states to be introduced in the New World on 19th January 2011.

Until September 2012, citizens voted for an individual candidate on a party list in a certain region. As of September 2012, citizens vote for lists of party representatives instead of individual candidates which is valid for a whole country, not a certain region.

Today, the Congressional elections take place on the 25th day of each month and the Congress is inaugurated two days later, on the 27th of each month. Although usually in the New World the top 5 parties can make nominations of Congress candidates, Saudi Arabia is a unique country in the New World - only one party system exists, so the party winner of every election is known in advance.

The review of all Saudi Congresses by year can be viewed by clicking on the links below, and here are some of the interesting facts about all of the elections held up to this date:

  • First elected Congress (January 2011) only had 4 Congress members
  • Not even one session of Congress had 40 members (or more), and only 5 times Congress of Saudi Arabia have more than 30 members:
    • 36 - July 2014
    • 35 - November 2013
    • 34 - December 2013
    • 32 - February 2014
    • 31 - April 2015
