'''Visayas''', also known as the ''Isle of Gold'' to early Greeks, is a region of the [[Philippines]]. Visayas was said to be derived from the early Indonesian empire ''Sri Vijaya'' (Sanskrit for ''great victory''), of which the Visayan islands were tributary ''kadatuans''. Its capital is '''Cebu'''.
