History
Not much is known of South Korea's history before the Japan-South Korea War in May 2008 that resulted in the annexation of South Korea into Japan. In November 2008 ATLANTIS backed freedom fighters launched three successful resistance wars in Gyeonggi-do, Gyeongsangnam-do, and Chungcheongnam-do.
Merge
Following the Party President elections of May 2009, the South Korean government planned for a merge with Japan spearheaded by alfagrem after a number of parties in South Korea had been taken by citizens that had originated from Poland. After a large majority voted "yes" to the merge preperations for the merge commenced. The battles Japan started ended just before the congressional elections would have, and the takeover was successfully stopped, even though some citizens like lordslowpoke were willing to fight to the end regardless of what the vote was.
Independance Attempt #1
South Korean leadership in exile had been planning for independance ever since their merger into Japan for security issues. A resistance war and eventual independance was planned for the August Congressional Elections.
On August 20th, Yonai Keiko started a resistance war in Gyeongsangnam-do in anticipation of this event. The region was chosen due to its borders, being completely surrounded by Japan. Despite foreign fighters going in for the Battle Hero medal, the wall was easily taken down and South Korea was once again on the map.
Over the next couple of days, foreign citizens were seen moving into South Korea and was granted citizenship due to the lack of Congress. In particular, a group revolving around Theocrats emerged and contested the coming elections. It is also around this time that President Yonai Keiko opened a proposal to start a war with Japan in anticipation for easier conquest of further regions. With the Congress not yet elected, this passed.
Held worldwide on the 25th of August, the Congressional elections ended up with the Theocratic members holding 6 of 10 seats. Combined with the presidential vote, the exiled Korean members could only prevent an impeachment.
Not able to control the country, the exiled leadership requested Japan to open a battle against Gyeongsangnam-do to dissolve the country. This battle, held on the 26th was won by Japan based upon a retreat bug.
Independance Attempt #2
At around 23:30 server time on September 3rd, a resistance war opened up in Gyeonggi-do. Started by Cidadao, the war is meant to close right before the presidential elections for the Theocratic members to get in their own president to recreate the South Korea that was returned to Japan earlier in the month. This battle has this group facing off against the Japanese state with offical orders from Japanese, exiled South Korean, and exiled North Korean officals to fight against the resistance.
The wall fluctuated throughout the day from about -30,000 all the way to +50,000. About an hour to go until the war ended, the wall stood at the highest it was ever, at 50,000. Within the last half-hour, the resistance fighters tanked this defense down to -6,000.
The Presidential elections the next day saw two candidates, Colinar supported by the resistance fighters / theocrats and Alfagrem, a long time business owner who was in turm supported by the exiled Korean government from a few months back. The result of this sees Colinar as the winner with about double the votes of his opponent.
Japan officially declared war in-game at this time and engaged in a battle for the capital, Gyeonggi-do. While this battle raged on, theocratic members started resistance wars in three other regions, Chungcheongnam-do, Chungcheongbuk-do, and Gyeongsangbuk-do. Japan secured Gyeonggi-do and two of three regions. South Korea disappeared off the map for a few hours before reappearing in Chungcheongnam-do.
